Three PhD positions at the University of Vienna in Theoretical Chemistry, Computational Physics, Machine Learning, Numerical Mathematics within the newly created Research Plattform “ViRAPID” – Vienna Research Platform for Accelerating Photoreaction Discovery (, @virapid) at the University of Vienna, Austria. The topics of the proposed projects are in the area of theoretical chemistry, computational physics, machine learning and numerical mathematics under the supervision of Leticia Gonz├ílez, Christoph Dellago, Ulisse Stefanelli, and Philipp Marquetand. Candidates should have strong interest in statistical mechanics and quantum chemistry to develop efficient sampling methods for electronic excited state dynamics. The duration of employment is 4 years. The contracts will be established according to the collective bargaining agreement of the University of Vienna (30h/week as usual for praedocs). The possibility to write a dissertation in Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics is given. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to do teaching according to the collective treaty.

By the time of joining, you have a MSc degree on Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics. You have interest in interdisciplinary work, experience with Linux operating systems, and an excellent command of English. Programming knowledge and experience with electronic structure calculations, molecular dynamics, machine learning, and/or high performance computing will be positively valued.
